My DeviantArt Story

I started my DeviantArt account in early 2005, at the behest of two of my new-found colleagues at the time and later close friends Alphaleo14 and Ayonakari, and posted my first ever artwork . It was an exhilarating experience.

I have been on DeviantArt for about 9 years give or take. My presence here is mostly on a non-social basis. I don’t usually mingle around, prefer to concentrate locally and like to mind my own business, but I do enjoy interacting with other artists, checking out their galleries, forging connections with anyone who's interested and working with others from time to time for mutual benefit. For those who are familiar with Frank Herbert's Dune, think of my account here as a sort of planet Caladan. For now, it is bucolic and peaceful here, do enjoy your visit.

In 2009 I received my first Daily Deviation for my short story 'Shades of Red' (thanks to Silverfox5213 for the suggestion and Katmomma for the feature).

My second DD was in 2012 (thank you MrAverage for the kind suggestion and KovoWolf for featuring it).

My journey from 2005-2009 wasn't really substantial enough to mention much about. During that time, my artistic aspirations did not exceed much beyond the doors of the company I was working for. It was a long period of slump and of quantity without quality. 

After a crisis-filled 2010, I started filling my dA gallery with artworks that I deem to have more value starting from the year 2011. Quitting the corporate art realm in 2010 sparked a renaissance. Through the community galleries on dA I went into a sort of ‘industrial revolution’ that drove me to adjust my mindset, refine my methods, broaden my tastes and strive to learn new techniques. I went though a change that was spirit-deep, evolving the way I work.

This little account on dA has really served me well as a reason to stay in practice through healthy competition, and through sheer inspiration from some of the best. My time on DeviantArt has taught me to be diplomatic, humble, patient and benevolent, how not to envy and it has helped me heaps in gauging my development. More importantly, it has given me, and is continuing to provide, a sense of worth which helps me stay positive and motivated. I also haven't forgotten, that through my dA account, I have made quite a number of valuable new allies and potential partners whom are a constant source of encouragement.

I’m happy to have been given the chance to be many things other than a person who draws stuff. In the space of the past 4 years, I have become a writer, a storyteller, a painter, a concept artist, a full-fledged illustrator, a professional comic artist, a publisher, an explorer, a comedian, an actor, a movie director, an astronaut, a teacher, a geologist, an auto designer, a Tolkien Dwarf, an engineer, a space captain, a soldier, a musician, an aerospace designer, an archeologist, a mad scientist, a goat and many more other things which I am not and/or aspire to become! And best of all, I can do all this without being employed in a daily 9am-6pm format.

I can safely say I have lived so much more in my life in the past 4 years than I did in my entire existence. I’m really glad I did not delete my account in 2006!
